The Contship Jet, carrying 421 containers, was hit by three unmanned sea drones on Wednesday while travelling from Haifa to Constanța. The Liberia-flagged vessel sank in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone, outside its territorial waters. Its 14 Filipino and four Ukrainian crew members were rescued and taken to Varna. The attacker has not been identified. A maritime risk analyst said the drone may have been derived from a Russian design, while Moscow denied involvement in recent regional attacks. Bulgarian authorities reported no visible pollution during initial inspections.
