Graveyard Rampage: Six Teenagers Charged After Allegedly Driving Stolen Cars Through Cemetery

CHERBOURG, QUEENSLAND — A community has been left reeling after a group of six teenagers allegedly went on a destructive joyride through a local cemetery, leaving a trail of damage across sacred ground.

Police arrested and charged the youths following a series of property offences over the weekend that culminated in a chaotic scene at the Cherbourg graveyard.

According to investigators, the incident began late Saturday night, July 4, 2026 when the group allegedly stole multiple vehicles from surrounding residential areas. Witnesses reported seeing the cars being driven erratically through the town before breaching the gates of the Cherbourg Cemetery.

The stolen vehicles were reportedly used to tear through the cemetery grounds, ripping up lawns and running over several graves. "It’s a complete lack of respect," said one local resident who visited the site the following morning. "This is a place where our elders and loved ones rest. To see it treated like a racetrack is absolutely heartbreaking for the whole community."
