Google's Quantum Paper Crowns Algorand the #3 Blockchain for Post-Quantum Security

Google's quantum paper cites Algorand more than any blockchain outside Bitcoin and Ethereum. Algorand executed its first post-quantum transaction in 2025, deploying Falcon signatures—proving real-world quantum resistance while others only theorize about the threat.

Google's Quantum Paper Crowns Algorand the #3 Blockchain for Post-Quantum Security

In a seismic validation from the tech giant that defined the quantum computing era, Google's latest quantum research paper has named Algorand as the blockchain most cited outside of Bitcoin and Ethereum for post-quantum cryptography readiness. While the crypto world debates theoretical quantum threats, Algorand has quietly done what few chains can claim: deployed real-world quantum-resistant technology.

Algorand executed its first post-quantum-secured transaction in 2025—making it one of the few blockchains with actual quantum-resistant code live on mainnet. Google's paper cites Algorand as a real-world example of post-quantum cryptography deployment on an otherwise quantum-vulnerable blockchain. The chain deployed the NIST-approved Falcon digital signature scheme for smart transactions and state proofs, and made Falcon verification available as a TEAL primitive, enabling developers to build quantum-safe smart contracts today. Built-in account key rotation allows users to upgrade to quantum-resistant cryptography without abandoning their assets.

This isn't theory. This is production. While others talk about the quantum threat, Algorand has already built the escape hatch. The message to developers, institutions, and investors is clear: quantum computing isn't coming—it's here. And only one blockchain outside the top two has proven it's ready. Algorand didn't wait for the crisis. It built for it.
