The proposal concerns a potential Elbit Systems plant in Sangerhausen, which would manufacture components for German defence companies and create up to 400 jobs. Siegmund said the AfD does not oppose arms production for domestic purposes. Critics question the connection between defence manufacturing and deportations, while the project’s future remains uncertain amid coalition negotiations.
