Germany calls reports Russian soldiers are being trained in China “deeply disturbing”

Germany has summoned China’s ambassador in Berlin for urgent talks after reporting from Reuters said Chinese military facilities secretly trained Russian soldiers last year. German officials say the training was allegedly authorized through an internal approval by Russia’s defense minister, and Germany warned that any Chinese support enabling Russia to continue its war against Ukraine threatens Germany and European security.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said China must be aware that Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine affects German core interests, and the foreign office requested the meeting the day before.

China’s embassy rejected the claims, calling them unfounded.
