Gangs in Haiti Target Foreign Troops in Major Attack on New Security Force

Gangs attacked an armored vehicle in Croix-des-Bouquets over the weekend, setting it on fire and leaving four Salvadoran aviation technicians unaccounted for. El Salvador’s military said the men escaped the burning vehicle, but intense fighting has prevented search teams from reaching the area by land or air. Helicopters sent to assist also came under fire. The assault is the first major attack on the international Gang Suppression Force since it began operations. Officials say the new force is assessing the situation.
