Further Finds Emerge From Halberton Roman Villa, Including Rare Polychrome Mosaic

Excavations near Halberton in Devon are producing new finds from a large Roman villa complex, including a polychrome mosaic described as the most westerly example of its style yet found in Britain. The SHARE project, led by the University of Exeter and partners, has expanded beyond earlier trial trenches to map more of the villa and ancillary buildings. Evidence includes opus signinum tanks likely linked to plunge baths and a bathhouse, plus additional structures that may relate to storage, agriculture, or craft activity.
