The uptick instead reflects what experts describe as persistent security challenges that require continued vigilance, cooperation among littoral states, and proactive prevention measures.

Efforts to address these challenges have included enhanced awareness drives and outreach by Singaporean and regional maritime authorities, alongside intensified reporting practices and coordination with shipping stakeholders.
