French Businesses and Events to Close as Weekend Protests Loom

French authorities are tightening security and restricting public gatherings ahead of another weekend of demonstrations, following riots and looting in several cities. In Paris, the Louvre, Orsay and Picasso museums are set to close on Saturday, while curfews will remain in effect in parts of the capital. Marseille is suspending public transport, and officials in multiple cities have imposed or extended restrictions. Police deployments are expected to increase. The measures follow damage to businesses and historic buildings during protests over living costs and school conditions.
