France has submitted a detailed government-to-government proposal to India for the planned acquisition of 114 Rafale fighter jets under a programme estimated at Rs 3.25 lakh crore (about $34 billion), according to reports citing Indian and defence sources. The proposal follows India’s issuance of a formal letter of request and comes as the process advances toward further negotiations. Deal terms reportedly include significant manufacture and assembly in India through Dassault’s partnership structure, with the goal of boosting local production and fleet expansion for the Indian Air Force.
