France has launched a new voluntary national service programme designed to give young people opportunities to contribute to the country while developing practical skills. The government initially aims to attract 10,000 volunteers each year, with plans to expand participation gradually. Its long-term target is to reach as many as 50,000 volunteers annually by 2035. The initiative is expected to support civic engagement, community projects, and national resilience, while remaining voluntary rather than imposing mandatory service on participants nationwide.
