French authorities authorized overnight curfews in parts of the country after a weekend of widespread protests and rioting. More than half a million people took to the streets on Saturday, with violence and property damage reported in several cities. In Paris, movement was restricted in some areas from 11 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday. Nice introduced a nightly curfew for young people, while partial restrictions were also reported in Lyon and northern cities, including Lille.
