France Announces €1.1 Billion Emergency Aid for Farmers After Record Heat and Drought

France has announced an emergency aid package worth €1.1 billion for farmers hit by record heat, drought, and wildfires. The damage has affected crops, pastures, livestock feed, and water supplies across the country. Grain maize production is expected to fall sharply, while several vegetable and forage crops have suffered heavy losses. More than half of France’s pastures are reportedly severely degraded. The government says the support will include compensation, tax relief, and assistance with seeds, feed, and restoring farm capacity.
