Camiguin, Philippines — The runway at Camiguin Airport was temporarily closed and rendered nearly unrecognizable after torrential rains and flooding triggered by Tropical Storm Basyang caused an adjacent creek to overflow onto the airfield on Friday, February 6, 2026. The overflow left large portions of the runway submerged in water, disrupting normal airport operations.
In an advisory, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the flooding affected Runway 07/25, prompting the issuance of a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) that took effect from the morning of February, 06, 2026 through the afternoon of February 07, 2026 to ensure safety.
As a result of the runway flooding, at least two flights — Cebu Pacific flights DG6695 and DG6696 — were cancelled, affecting around 67 passengers scheduled to travel to and from the island province.
CAAP advised travelers to coordinate with their airlines for updates and to prioritize safety in making travel plans.
The flooding at Camiguin Airport is part of the broader impact of Tropical Storm Basyang, which has brought heavy to intense rains to parts of the Philippines, with meteorological agencies warning of continued rainfall, flooding, and landslide risks in storm affected areas as the system moves across the region.
