Flames on the 21st Floor: Massive Fire Rips Through Noida High-Rise Complex

NOIDA — A massive fire erupted early on Monday morning at a residential high-rise building in Noida’s Sector 119, sparking widespread panic among thousands of residents.

The blaze broke out around 8:30 AM on June 29, 2026 at Unnati the Aranya society, quickly enveloping multiple floors of the residential tower before emergency teams could bring it under control. Thanks to prompt evacuations, authorities have confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported.

The fire reportedly originated in flat number 2105 on the 21st floor of Tower 4. Eyewitnesses reported a sudden loud blast, suspected to be an air conditioning (AC) unit explosion, which caused the flames to spread rapidly.

Driven by intense heat, the fire climbed quickly, damaging at least three floors above the initial blast zone and charring a unit below. Thick black smoke filled the stairwells and upper corridors, forcing nearly 4,000 residents across the society to flee the complex in a panic.

"We were informed by the affected family that their AC had caught fire," said Chief Fire Officer Pardeep Kumar. "They vacated the flat immediately as soon as it broke out, and that prompt escape helped avert what could have been a major tragedy."

The emergency response saw a rapid mobilization of local services to contain the high-rise blaze, beginning with six fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot under the jurisdiction of the Sector 113 Police Station. To stop the flames from jumping to neighboring towers, firefighters utilized high-pressure water hoses, hydraulic pumps, and adjacent balconies to isolate the fire.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took swift cognisance of the incident, directing senior administrative officials to monitor the site directly and expedite relief operations.

While the maintenance team claimed they utilized the society’s internal hydrant system to assist, the incident left residents deeply shaken. Many voiced serious concerns over the maintenance of high-rise firefighting infrastructure, as the complex is currently navigating insolvency proceedings.

The fire was ultimately contained to the affected column of flats within Tower 4, preventing a larger catastrophe within the densely populated residential hub. Cooling operations wrapped up by midday, allowing police to slowly reopen cordoned zones.

Local authorities and forensic teams have launched an official investigation into the exact mechanical or electrical failure that triggered the explosion. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the escalating risks of urban AC unit fires during periods of peak electrical load and high summer temperatures.
