HOUGANG, Singapore — A quiet Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2026 in Hougang turned into a scene of chaos and heroism after a collision between a taxi and a car sent the cab careening into a tree, where it rapidly burst into violent flames.

The dramatic accident, which drew a massive crowd of onlookers and prompted a swift emergency response, left multiple people injured and a vehicle completely incinerated.

The incident unfolded along a busy stretch of road in Hougang when a standard commuter taxi and a private car collided. While the exact cause of the initial impact remains under investigation, witnesses report that the force of the collision sent the taxi veering wildly out of control.
