Lima, Peru—One person died Wednesday morning when their house suddenly collapsed. The structural failure of the older building left the interior exposed and filled the street with heavy masonry. First responders found the victim beneath the rubble shortly after the arrival of the civil defense units.

Neighbors reported hearing a series of cracking noises before the entire front wall fell outward. The collapse caused minimal damage to neighboring structures, though those homes have been evacuated as a precaution.
