Family Tragedy in Batangas: Three Dead, One Wounded in Talisay Stabbing Spree

TALISAY, BATANGAS, Philippines — A quiet residential community in Barangay Aya was shattered after a man allegedly went on a brutal stabbing spree late Friday night, June 19, 2026, killing three family members—including a toddler—and leaving a minor injured.

The suspect, identified as a 33-year-old welder from Barangay San Roque in Santo Tomas City, was apprehended by authorities’ hours after the horrific assault.

The violent incident unfolded at around 10:00 PM on Friday. According to a report from the Talisay Municipal Police Station, the assailant entered the home and repeatedly stabbed the occupants. The attack tragically claimed the lives of three family members: a 59-year-old grandmother, her 35-year-old daughter, and the daughter's two-year-old son.

A six-year-old boy, who is also a relative of the victims, sustained multiple stab wounds during the commotion. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical staff confirmed he is currently recovering.

Two other children inside the house managed to escape the slaughter unscathed. A 13-year-old boy—the son of the 35-year-old victim—and his 15-year-old sister were inside their bedroom when they heard a violent commotion in the living area.

Acting quickly, the two teenagers jumped out of a window and ran through the dark to seek emergency assistance from nearby relatives, who immediately alerted the local police.

Following the tip-off, the Talisay Municipal Police, led by police chief Major El Cid Villanueva, launched a rapid hot pursuit operation. At approximately 12:30 AM on Saturday—just an hour and a half after the crime was reported—authorities tracked down and arrested the suspect at his residence in Santo Tomas City. Bloodstained clothing and the bladed weapon believed to have been used in the killings were recovered at the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is closely tied to the family, serving as the live-in partner of the 35-year-old victim's sibling.

"We are currently preparing to file multiple criminal charges against the suspect," a police investigator stated.

While a definitive motive is still being processed, investigators are heavily focusing on the possibility that the gruesome killings were calculated to silence the family and prevent them from filing formal rape charges against the suspect. The suspect remains in tight police custody as the investigation moves forward.
