Ex-PM Sheikh Hasina Says She Plans to Return to Bangladesh After Two Years in Exile

Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she plans to return to Bangladesh after spending two years in exile in India, despite facing the death penalty. She made the announcement in a video message at an event hosted by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia, alongside her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and other Awami League leaders. Hasina said she may be detained or imprisoned but that fear would not stop her “duty to the people.” She did not give a fixed date, saying it will be announced later, aiming for December.
