European Court of Human Rights unanimously rules Czech police violated right to life of Romani man

In a unanimous ruling, the European Court of Human Rights held that Czech police breached the right to life of Romani man Stanislav Tomáš, who died after a police intervention in 2021. It further concluded there was insufficient scrutiny of whether racist motives influenced the force used, and said officials showed a “manifest lack of diligence.”
