Europe Completes Final ITER Vacuum Vessel Sector for the World’s Largest Fusion Reactor

Europe has completed the manufacture of its fifth and final ITER Vacuum Vessel sector, bringing the fusion project closer to assembly. The sector was produced by Fusion for Energy and the AMW consortium in Italy, ahead of schedule. It will form part of the tokamak’s chamber, where fusion reactions will be studied under extreme conditions. ITER is designed to demonstrate fusion technology and help advance energy research, with contributions from Europe, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia, and the United States.
