Athens says surveys for the EU-backed Great Sea Interconnector will proceed without third-party approval, amid Turkey’s objections. Nexans, the French cable manufacturer, has applied to Greek authorities for permission to resume seabed research along the Crete-Cyprus route. The French-flagged vessel Abeille Marengo will carry out the work, covering waters between Crete and Cyprus. The application is being reviewed; if approved, surveys could restart in late October. The cable project aims to connect the electricity systems of Greece and Cyprus.
