Egypt’s Sisi Says His Presidency Will End in 2030

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Saturday that his term will end in 2030, calling his departure from office a settled matter. He reaffirmed Egypt’s constitution would not be amended at a graduation ceremony for the Egyptian Military Academy. Sisi is serving a six-year term after winning re-election in December 2023. Constitutional changes approved in 2019 extended terms from four years to six and enabled him to seek a third term, allowing him to remain in office until 2030.
