Eastern Libya Declares Holidays Ahead of Severe Dust Storms

EASTERN LIBYA — De facto authorities in Eastern Libya have declared official holidays for all state institutions in the region as severe dust storms are expected to hit over the coming days.

The decision, announced by regional administrative offices, aims to protect public safety and reduce risks associated with poor visibility, hazardous travel conditions, and potential health impacts from the dust. Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and take necessary precautions during the storms.

Meteorological agencies have issued warnings indicating that strong winds and reduced air quality may affect major cities, including Benghazi, Derna, and Tobruk. The authorities urged businesses, schools, and government offices to adhere to the temporary closure and adjust work schedules accordingly.
