Duty on the Road Met an Unexpected Collision

Public security work often takes place away from the spotlight, carried out through routine patrols, investigations, and coordination between officers. Yet there are moments when those responsibilities suddenly move into public view through unexpected events.

One such incident occurred in Way Kanan Regency, Lampung, during an operation connected to a narcotics investigation. Authorities reported that a police chief became involved in a dangerous encounter while officers attempted to stop a vehicle linked to suspected drug activity.

The operation followed the development of an investigation that had already led to the detention of several suspects. Police sought to intercept another vehicle believed to have connections to the case.

To stop the vehicle, officers established a road blockade using a patrol car positioned across the roadway. The measure was intended to prevent the suspect vehicle from continuing its journey.

Police stated that the driver instead attempted to force passage through the blockade. The resulting collision struck the patrol vehicle and created a chain reaction that affected officers nearby.

AKP Sunaryo, the chief of the Baradatu Police Sector, was standing near the patrol vehicle when the impact occurred. Officials reported that he was thrown approximately one meter as a result of the force generated by the collision.

The incident quickly attracted public attention after video footage circulated online. Images from the scene highlighted both the risks associated with narcotics enforcement and the unpredictability of field operations.

Authorities subsequently secured the vehicle used during the escape attempt and continued efforts to identify and locate those responsible.

Police stated that the investigation remains active and forms part of broader efforts to combat illegal narcotics distribution in Lampung.
