Drug Trafficking Investigation Leads to Arrests of Major Underground Bankers

Spanish police, supported by Europol, have dismantled an international criminal network allegedly handling drug-trafficking proceeds through underground banking. Authorities arrested 21 suspects, issued 19 international arrest warrants and identified assets worth about €20 million. The operation targeted financial facilitators linked to cocaine trafficking and money laundering, including a major network known as the “Dubai Bank.” Investigators say the system moved and concealed criminal funds across borders, demonstrating the growing scale and sophistication of Europe’s transnational organized-crime infrastructure and reach.
