Drones Hit Two Ships in Bulgaria’s EU Waters; One Sinks and Crew Remains Missing

Two civilian ships were struck by drones in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone on Tuesday, according to officials. The Togo-flagged Alfa Watan suffered critical damage and sank, leaving its crew missing. A second vessel, the Palau-flagged Able, caught fire after the attack, but all 18 crew members were rescued. Two injured sailors received medical treatment. Bulgarian authorities launched a search operation and said the drones’ origin remained unclear. The incident raises fresh concerns about civilian shipping safety across the Black Sea.
