A drone strike set the San Marino-flagged tanker Wine Trader ablaze about 13 nautical miles southeast of Sulina, Romania, on Thursday. Romanian authorities launched search-and-rescue operations, and five crew members were rescued; seven remained missing. The ship was carrying chemicals from Tunisia to Romania. President Nicușor Dan confirmed the vessel had been hit but did not identify the drone’s origin. The incident followed other attacks on commercial shipping in the Black Sea, heightening concerns that Russia’s war in Ukraine could spread across the region.
