ACCRA, GHANA — The capital city is reeling from a catastrophic double crisis after torrential rains triggered widespread flooding across the metropolis, swiftly followed by a massive fire outbreak that tore through the busy Odorna (Odawna) Market near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The dual emergency has left emergency services stretched to their limits, hundreds of residents stranded in rising waters, and local traders watching their livelihoods go up in smoke.
