TRIPOLI — Libya and China have signed a development cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and supporting Libya’s reconstruction and economic development efforts.
The agreement focuses on enhancing cooperation in key sectors including infrastructure, energy, transportation, housing, and technical capacity-building. It reflects both countries’ commitment to expanding economic ties and promoting mutually beneficial development projects.
Libyan officials said the partnership with China is expected to help accelerate priority projects, particularly in rebuilding infrastructure damaged by years of conflict, while also supporting long-term sustainable development goals. The agreement also emphasizes knowledge transfer, training, and the exchange of technical expertise.
Chinese representatives reaffirmed Beijing’s support for Libya’s stability and development, highlighting China’s interest in participating in reconstruction initiatives and contributing to economic recovery through investment and cooperation under established international frameworks.
Both sides stressed that the agreement aligns with Libya’s national development plans and respects the principles of sovereignty and mutual benefit. Implementation mechanisms and specific project priorities are expected to be finalized through follow-up discussions between relevant ministries and agencies.
The signing of the agreement marks another step in strengthening Libya–China relations, as Tripoli continues to seek international partnerships to support reconstruction, economic diversification, and long-term growth.
