Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates—Emergency crews responded to a violent high-speed collision on a remote desert highway early this morning that left three people dead and several others critically injured.

Scattered debris stretched across three lanes of asphalt as police vehicles blocked off the affected stretch of road. The impact occurred just before sunrise when visibility across the open desert dropped significantly due to early morning mist.

First responders arrived to find two vehicles heavily mangled from the force of the head-on crash. Paramedics worked quickly to extract trapped occupants from the wreckage while traffic backed up for miles behind the police blockade.

We received emergency calls regarding a severe multi-vehicle impact at dawn, said traffic police captain Tariq Al-Mansoori. Our teams deployed immediately to secure the perimeter and transport the injured to the nearest trauma center.

Hospital officials confirmed that three victims succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival. Medical personnel are monitoring four additional survivors currently listed in critical condition.

Speeding on regional transit routes remains a persistent challenge for highway patrols. Authorities have repeatedly warned drivers to adjust velocity during sudden weather shifts.

Tow trucks cleared the wreckage from the tarmac by late morning as investigators combed the scene for skid marks. Traffic restrictions were gradually lifted as municipal cleaning crews removed oil and shattered glass from the highway.

Local transportation bureaus plan to review speed enforcement measures along the corridor. No formal timeline has been issued regarding permanent infrastructure upgrades for the route.

Investigators are currently reviewing digital dashcam footage recovered from surviving motorists involved in the incident.
