Denmark Says Russian Warship Fired Flares at Military Helicopter

Denmark says a Russian frigate fired two flares at a Danish Fennec helicopter conducting routine photographic reconnaissance in international waters off Gedser. One flare passed close to the aircraft, according to Danish authorities, who described the incident as unacceptable and summoned Russia’s ambassador. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called the action reckless and accused Moscow of seeking to intimidate NATO members. Russia said it would investigate, while accusing Danish helicopters of dangerous manoeuvres near Russian warships. No injuries were reported publicly.
