Central Delhi was sealed on Saturday ahead of a youth-led demonstration calling for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Authorities shut 57 metro stations, cancelled several trains, suspended mobile internet near the protest site, and closed markets. The demonstrators allege a voter-list revision unfairly removed millions of names and could advantage Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party. The Election Commission and BJP deny wrongdoing, saying the process removes duplicate, deceased, or ineligible entries. Police said the protest lacked permission; organizers insisted peaceful protest is a fundamental right.
