Perlis, Malaysia—A driver died earlier today when their car veered off the road and plunged into an irrigation canal. The vehicle reportedly hit a patch of loose gravel before sliding down the steep bank and submerging in the water. Bystanders attempted to assist, but the current was too strong.

Emergency rescue teams arrived to pull the submerged vehicle from the canal using a heavy-duty crane. Divers were deployed to check for other passengers, though none were found. Paramedics confirmed the driver was deceased upon removal from the wreckage.
