DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, FLORIDA — A horrific beachside tragedy unfolded on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2026 when an allegedly intoxicated driver plowed through a beach access toll booth, striking and killing a grandmother before speeding directly into the Atlantic Ocean. The shocking incident left onlookers paralyzed with fear and has led to a cascade of criminal charges against the motorist.

The quiet coastal community was instantly transformed into a chaotic crime scene as lifeguards, police, and beachgoers scrambled to rescue the victims and detain the driver.
