BANGKOK, Thailand — Metropolitan Police officers, alongside anti-narcotics agents, busted a hidden entertainment venue disguised as an internet cafe in Bangkok's Huai Khwang district early Saturday morning, July 18, 2026. The tactical raid resulted in the arrest of 11 suspects and the seizure of an extensive stash of illicit drugs.

The venue, operating surreptitiously behind a storefront staged to look like a standard gaming shop, was a highly dangerous, completely sealed fire trap with no operating permits.

Acting on intelligence gathered by the Narcotics Control Centre and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), joint tactical teams swarmed the establishment at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Saturday. Known among local patrons as "Ran Lap Soi 1" (Secret Shop Soi 1), the venue was located just off Pracha Uthit Road.

To deflect suspicion from passing street patrols, the operators used massive canvas sheets and strategically parked cars to block the entrance from public view. The illegal pub operated exclusively for a network of regular customers and individuals vetted by trusted insiders. Investigating officers revealed that the primary clientele consisted of male bar hosts and local entertainment workers looking to socialize and consume narcotics after legitimate nightlife venues closed down.

Inside the establishment, authorities encountered highly hazardous environmental conditions. The building was completely sealed with only a single point of entry and exit, featuring zero emergency fire escapes. Investigators noted that the venue functioned primarily as a drug distribution hub rather than an alcohol-serving establishment.

A thorough sweep of the premises, including a second-floor residential room, uncovered a substantial cache of contraband. Police officially confiscated 326.24 grams of ketamine, 51.16 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice), 224 ecstasy tablets, and 3.83 grams of cocaine. Additionally, authorities seized several illegal vapes, specifically 19 ketamine-laced "K-pods" and 38 e-cigarettes.

In addition to the narcotics, officers froze roughly 300,000-baht worth of assets at the scene, including cash, gold-framed amulets, and rings.

Police arrested a man identified as "Somchai," who confessed to being the owner of the venue. He faces multiple severe charges, including operating an illegal entertainment venue, violating official closing hours, possession of banned electronic cigarettes, and possession of Category 1 and Category 2 narcotics with intent to sell.

Three other individuals were detained as alleged operators and drug dealers, alongside seven patrons who tested positive for illegal substances during on-site fluid screenings. All 11 suspects and the confiscated evidence have been handed over to investigators at the Huai Khwang police station for formal prosecution.
