A South Korean court has reportedly found that Chinese chipmaker CXMT used a written roadmap, known as Project Hefei, to obtain Samsung DRAM technology. The alleged plan contained a 620-step manufacturing recipe and was intended to help CXMT build production capacity and capture roughly 10% of the global memory market. The case highlights intensifying competition in advanced semiconductors and the legal risks surrounding employee recruitment, trade secrets, and industrial espionage. The company has denied wrongdoing, according to reports in court.
