Rescuers are searching for missing people after a strong 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit western Colombia, one of the country’s largest quakes in years. Colombia’s geological service said the quake struck around 07:34 local time at a depth of about 103 km in Chocó province. The shaking was widely felt across western Colombia, with many deaths concentrated in Cali, while fatalities were also reported in other cities including Pereira and Manizales. Authorities have declared a state of emergency, reported hundreds of injuries, and said rescue operations are underway as officials assess damaged roads, airports, and buildings.
