A court in Germany has sentenced the Christmas market attacker in the Magdeburg case to life in prison for murdering six people.
The attack took place on Dec. 20, 2024, when a driver drove a vehicle into a crowd at the Christmas market, killing six victims and injuring more than 300 others. Prosecutors and the court treated the case as multiple murders along with numerous counts related to attempted murders and serious bodily harm.
At sentencing on June 26, 2026, the court imposed life imprisonment on the defendant for the six counts of murder, in addition to the other convictions tied to the wider injuries inflicted during the rampage
