China Scales Back Troops Along LAC Amid Thaw in Ties With India

China reduced its troop deployment along the Line of Actual Control during 2025, India’s Defence Ministry said, with 10 combined-arms brigade-size PLA forces stationed along the border and another 10 in traditional training areas. The report attributed the reduction to increased political, diplomatic, and military engagement. However, it said China still maintains substantial forces, missiles, air-defence systems, and tanks near the frontier. India’s Army remains robustly deployed and prepared for possible contingencies despite signs of a broader thaw in relations
