Chaos in Bedok: Motorcyclist Injured in Van Crash, Sparking Massive Bus Diversions

SINGAPORE — A 46-year-old male motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, July 4, 2026 following a serious collision with a van along Bedok North Avenue 3. The incident, which occurred at around 12:50 PM, triggered significant traffic disruptions and forced the temporary diversion of five public bus services.

The accident unfolded at a busy traffic junction, leaving a trail of debris and drawing immediate attention from onlookers. According to videos circulating on social media platform Xiaohongshu, the involved van came to a halt in the middle of the junction, showcasing extensive damage to its front bumper.

Just ahead of the van, the damaged motorcycle lay on its side across the tarmac. The 46-year-old rider was seen lying in the center of the two-lane road as civic-minded passers-by rushed forward to tend to him and manage oncoming traffic before emergency responders arrived.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and local police arrived shortly after. Responding to media queries, authorities confirmed that the motorcyclist was conscious when he was loaded into an SCDF ambulance and conveyed to Changi General Hospital for medical treatment.

The aftermath of the crash necessitated a partial road closure to allow emergency personnel to safely secure the scene and clear the wreckage. As a result, local public transit faced a bottleneck during the peak weekend lunch hour.

According to data from the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) MyTransport app, a total of five major bus services were temporarily rerouted to bypass the gridlock. The affected routes disrupted by the incident included services 28, 45, 67, 137, and 155.

Commuters experienced moderate delays as buses navigated alternative corridors before the road was fully reopened to traffic later in the afternoon.

While the precise cause of the collision remains unclear, police have initiated an official inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Authorities confirmed that a 47-year-old male van driver is currently unharmed and actively assisting the police with their ongoing investigations.
