CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico — A night of euphoric sports celebration violently derailed into a scene of utter chaos and terror in the heart of Cabo San Lucas when a vehicle plowed directly into a massive crowd of jubilant fans, leaving at least 17 people injured.

The horror unfolded late Wednesday night along one of the popular resort city's main thoroughfares, which had been completely gridlocked by hundreds of ecstatic supporters celebrating a historic championship victory.

Eyewitnesses described a festive, high-energy atmosphere that transformed in an instant. Throngs of fans had poured out of local bars and venues, filling the asphalt, waving flags, and chanting in celebration. The sheer volume of people had effectively blocked off traffic, bringing vehicles on the strip to a complete standstill.

According to local authorities, the driver of a large SUV grew visibly agitated by the gridlock and the crowd surrounding the vehicle. Witnesses state that after an exchange of words with several people in the street, the driver aggressively revved the engine before accelerating directly through the dense wall of human bodies.

"People were singing and jumping, it was pure joy," said one eyewitness who narrowly avoided the vehicle. "Then you just heard the horrific sound of metal and tires screeching, followed by screaming. The car didn't stop—it just kept pushing through people like they weren't even there."
