SILANG, CAVITE — A routine motorcycle trip turned into a bloody nightmare after a rider and his passenger were violently ambushed, stabbed, and robbed by armed criminals along a dark stretch of a local highway in Silang.
The incident highlights a disturbing spike in violent highway robberies targeting motorcycle owners across the province, prompting Cavite law enforcement to intensify nightly patrols.
According to initial police reports from the Silang Municipal Police Station, the victim and his companion were traveling home late in the evening when they noticed a tailing motorcycle. As they reached a poorly lit section of the road, the suspects suddenly cut them off, forcing the rider to abruptly stop.
Without warning, the perpetrators drew bladed weapons and assaulted the duo. The rider sustained multiple stab wounds while attempting to protect his passenger and shield his vehicle.
During the scuffle, the suspects forcibly grabbed the victims' personal belongings, including cellular phones and wallets. The wounded rider and his panicked passenger were then thrown to the ground as the criminals commandeered the victim's motorcycle, speeding off toward a nearby highway exit.
Passing motorists discovered the bloodied victims on the side of the road and immediately alerted local emergency services. First responders rushed the rider to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for severe lacerations. Fortunately, the passenger escaped with minor bruises but remains heavily traumatized by the ordeal.
Investigators are currently mapping out nearby establishments to secure closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage that may have captured the suspects' escape route or the moments leading up to the ambush.
"We are looking into all angles and tracking down known local criminal elements specializing in motorcycle theft," an investigating officer stated. "We urge the public to avoid dark, unlit routes late at night whenever possible."
A regional dragnet operations plan has been initiated by the Cavite Police Provincial Office to recover the stolen vehicle and apprehend the suspects behind the violent robbery.
