A Canadian citizen of Chinese origin who was interning at NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons has been arrested in Belgium on suspicion of espionage for a third country, Belgian authorities said. Prosecutors also allege the suspect may be connected to a criminal organization. NATO security services reportedly alerted the Belgian intelligence service General Intelligence and Security Service after the intern came to their attention. Searches were carried out at her home and workplace, and a magistrate issued an arrest warrant.
