The Eurovision Song Contest organisers have announced that Canada will compete in 2027. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said the Canadian broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada’s move to full membership makes Canada eligible to participate in the 71st edition of the competition.
The EBU said Canada will enter the semi-finals when it joins next year, with details of how the Canadian entry will be selected expected later in 2026. Eurovision in 2027 will be hosted in Bulgaria, after Bulgaria won the contest for the first time in May.
While Eurovision is often associated with Europe, participation is not strictly limited by geography. Instead, it is based on EBU membership, which includes countries beyond the European continent. The announcement follows CBC/Radio-Canada becoming a full member of the EBU, in contrast to its previous associate-member status.
