Busted: Former Police Officer and Companion Arrested in Misamis Oriental Drug Sting

TAGOLOAN, MISAMIS ORIENTAL — A former law enforcer turned lawbreaker is behind bars after operatives spearheaded a successful undercover buy-bust operation in a local community. The operation resulted in the arrest of a dismissed police officer and his civilian companion, dealing another blow to the local illegal drug trade.

The sting, executed by joint anti-narcotics teams, unfolded in a residential neighborhood where suspects were reportedly conducting illicit transactions.

Acting on precise intelligence regarding a distribution network operating within the municipality, undercover operatives disguised themselves as buyers to negotiate a drug transaction with the suspects. Once the exchange of marked money and illegal substances was completed, tactical teams breached the area.

Both the former police officer and his companion were taken into custody without incident. Law enforcement officials noted that the ex-cop’s background in policing initially made him highly elusive, as he was intimately familiar with tactical maneuvers and surveillance techniques.

Following a search of the immediate area and the suspects, authorities recovered a significant cache of evidence. This included multiple heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), alongside the marked buy-bust currency used by the undercover operatives. Additionally, investigators seized cellphones used to facilitate illegal drug transactions with local clientele, as well as various drug paraphernalia indicating active distribution and potential consumption at the site.

The confiscated narcotics have been turned over to the crime laboratory for forensic examination and weighing to determine the exact market value and prepare for prosecution.

The arrest has sparked strong statements from regional police commanders, who reiterated that the organization maintains a zero-tolerance policy for individuals who tarnish the badge, whether active or former members.

"Our operations remain aggressive and blind to status, background, or former affiliations," an official stated. "Those who choose to violate the law, especially after taking an oath to protect it, will face the absolute maximum weight of justice."

The suspects are currently detained at a local holding facility and are facing formal charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act 9165).
