Bukidnon Dispute Turns Violent: 55-Year-Old Woman Shot by Neighbor Outside Her Home

QUEZON, BUKIDNON — A long-standing neighborhood grudge took a violent turn on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 after a 55-year-old woman was shot and wounded by her neighbor right outside her own residence in PurokDemokrasya, Barangay Salawagan.

The victim, whose identity has been withheld by authorities for her protection, is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

According to initial reports from the Quezon Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred during the day when the victim was outside her house. The suspect, a male neighbor residing in the same purok, reportedly approached the victim following a heated argument. The confrontation quickly escalated when the suspect drew a firearm and fired at the woman, hitting her before fleeing the scene.

The sound of gunfire shattered the daytime peace of PurokDemokrasya, a normally quiet community in the sprawling barangay of Salawagan. Alarmed neighbors rushed to the scene to find the victim injured and immediately scrambled to transport her to the nearest medical facility.

Local residents expressed shock over the audacity of the attack, which occurred in broad daylight and right on the victim's doorstep. "We heard shouting, but we didn’t expect it to end in bloodshed," said one resident who asked not to be named.
