The British Museum is investigating damage to two Chinese ceramics in a display case on October 4. It said a bowl fell from its shelf onto a box below, damaging both objects. Catalogued as B629, the bowl belonged to the Sir Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art. The museum’s conservation team is restoring the pieces. The shelf and mount showed no signs of failure, but the cause of the fall remains unknown. The museum says its investigation is ongoing for now.
