Rights monitors say British couple Craig and Lindsay Foreman, jailed in Iran on espionage charges, are continuing a hunger strike amid worsening health concerns. The U.S.-based Iranian human rights news agency HRANA reported that the couple have been denied adequate medical care and are also facing restrictions on contact.
HRANA said Craig and Lindsay Foreman have lost significant weight during the strike. It reported that Lindsay had not received a medical check-up for about 10 days despite symptoms including dizziness, body tremors, and severe weakness. The group also said medicines and other items sent by the British embassy—including eyeglasses and hygiene supplies—were not being delivered despite approvals from prison medical staff.
According to HRANA, the couple remained barred from contacting their families or each other, though they were allowed to speak by telephone with their lawyer. HRANA also said the couple had started the hunger strike in protest over prison conditions and access restrictions.
Iranian authorities were not immediately available to comment, and the reporting did not include an Iranian response to HRANA’s allegations.
