Breaking in South Lebanon: Two Injured in Israeli Drone Strike Target on Nabatieh

NABATIEH, LEBANON — Two people have been wounded following an Israeli drone strike in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh. The attack, which unfolded in multiple waves, targeted a vehicle and subsequently hit responding medical personnel.

According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health, the strike took place in the University Neighborhood of Nabatieh. A second strike occurred as emergency medical teams arrived at the scene to assist and transport the casualties, causing damage to several ambulances.

Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health confirmed through its Emergency Operations Center that the strike involved two distinct hits. The initial drone missile targeted a vehicle in the area.

As paramedics from the Islamic Health Authority and affiliated rescue organizations moved in to evacuate the injured, a second strike occurred nearby. This follow-up attack targeted the response area, sending a wave of panic through the crowd and directly damaging emergency ambulances and vehicles operating in the immediate zone.

The incident in Nabatieh comes amid frequent cross-border strikes and low-flying drone activity across southern Lebanon. Local health officials and humanitarian groups have repeatedly voiced concern over attacks near civilian infrastructure and first responders operating in the region.

Both victims were transported to nearby regional hospitals for treatment. Local security forces have cordoned off the targeted area as authorities inspect the site and assess the full extent of the structural damage.

The double-strike incident has drawn swift condemnation from local municipal officials and Lebanese human rights groups, who denounced the targeting of first responders as a severe violation of international humanitarian law. Community leaders in Nabatieh emphasized that hitting emergency crews actively engaged in life-saving operations severely hampers rescue efforts and creates a dangerous precedent for civil defense personnel across the region.

In the hours following the attack, local civil defense units and municipal workers began clearing debris from the University Neighborhood to restore access to primary roadways. Technical crews were also dispatched to inspect nearby residential buildings and utility infrastructure for structural damage caused by the force of the consecutive drone explosions.
